Dee graduated from Texas Christian University in 1975 and followed that up with an MBA from Southwester Graduate School of Banking at SMU in 1980.

Upon graduation from TCU he joined the Management Training program with Republic National Bank in Dallas. He ended his banking career in 1981 as Vice President Middle Market Lending for Republic in Fort Worth. 

He went on to hold Financial and Operational Executive positions within the Distribution  and Software Industries and retired in 2017 as CFO of a midsized Mechanical Contractor.

He has been married for 32 years and has one daughter, he is an avid golfer who has played throughout the US a s well as South Africa.
