Job Description
The position of “General Superintendent ” is a skilled role within Restoration Roofing’s Federal Department. The Superintendent provides the oversite of projects, on-site administrative, technical, and day-to-day supervision of Federal projects they are assigned to, ensuring the work efforts are in accordance with the plans & specifications, tracking production progress & delays, and meeting the project deadlines while ensuring job quality.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for the supervision of day-to-day operations of assigned projects
- Ensure work plans and schedules are created and met, and all tracking and reporting requirements are accurately completed and submitted by on-site superintendents
- Report all project statuses, work progress, delays, and material inventories to the Senior Project Manager
- Analyze and comprehend project plans, specs, and details and the ability to maintain and interpret construction drawings for on-site superintendents and teams
- Represent Restoration Roofing core values to on-site client personnel
- Refer change orders through the chain of command
- Ensure materials have been reviewed by on-site superintendent and correct product and quantities are used
- Maintain on-site project status including production status and labor force
- Work within the RR chain of command to plan the execution of projects and to ensure project schedules are met
- Communicate work in progress with RR chain of command to ensure accurate billing on projects
- Assist in coordinating our work with other trades to anticipate potential delays or issues and problem solve those issues
- Understand construction equipment, including safety planning and best practices
- Ensure daily site logs and certified payroll hourly tracking are completed and filed
- Ensure the project complies with all building codes and governmental provisions and conditions; maintain high-quality standards and maintain a safe working environment
- Review and assist in the creation of a three week look ahead planner
- Anticipate problems or obstructions ahead of time and assist to problem solve
- Analyze the progress and proper installation, ensuring before/during/after pictures and documentation of work progress
- Ensure Daily Progress Photos are taken and uploaded (Start of work / Progress / Final Production)
- Ensure sign in sheets and production reports are completed and uploaded daily
- Ensure work in progress tracker is updated daily
- Review field measurements and field takeoffs for accuracy
- Lead by example – Take charge when situations are holding or detaining any progress on the job site
- Ensure material arriving is documented
- Build honest relationships and fair relationships, and always keep them professional
- Plan the Work, and Work the Plan
- Take ownership of the projects from start-to-finish
Requirements
- 3-5 years’ experience in the commercial roofing industry is preferable
- Must be willing to travel
- Ability to read construction plans & specifications
- Manufacturer Certifications as Required
- 24 Hr Fall Protection Competent Person per EM 385 1-1
- CPR Certification
- OHSA 10 or 30-hour certification is preferred
- Equipment operating skills is preferred
- Proficiency in MS Office package
- Strong project management skills, including scope, time, and budget management
- Organizational skills including delegation, prioritization and multitasking
- Excellent written & oral communication
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Effective leadership abilities like motivation, goal-setting, and active listening
- Experience with a top tier commercial contractor preferred
- Ability to be a team player and work in a fast-paced team environment
- Firm, assertive, and professional communication style with labor crews and GC onsite personnel
- Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines
